PERMABOND PT328

Main features

  • 15-20 Minute Pot Life
  • 5 mm Gap Filling
  • 12-18 MPa Steel Shear

Product Description

Permabond PT328 is a two-part, room-temperature-curing polyurethane adhesive for bonding metals, plastics, and composites. Its 1:1 mix ratio and 15-20 minute pot life provide time for large-area assembly, while the thixotropic, non-slump rheology supports controlled placement. The material fills gaps up to 5 mm and reaches handling strength on steel in 90-120 minutes at 23 deg C. After cure, it provides 12-18 MPa shear strength on steel together with documented impact and vibration resistance. Applications include large bonded assemblies that require broad substrate coverage and an extended processing window.

Key features

  • Large-Area Work Window: Provides a 15-20 minute pot life for extended assembly operations.
  • 5 mm Gap Fill: Fills bond gaps up to 5 mm with a 1:1 mix ratio.
  • Impact and Vibration Resistance: Cured polyurethane supports assemblies exposed to impact and vibration.

Applications

Applications include large-area bonding of metals, plastics, and composites, including assemblies exposed to impact or vibration.

Component System

Mix Ratio
The amount of a constituent divided by the total amount of all other constituents in a mixture
1 : 1 by volume
Pot Life
Pot life is the amount of time it takes for the viscosity of a material to double (or quadruple for lower viscosity materials) in room temperature after a material is mixed. It is closely related to work life but it is not application dependent, less precise and more of a general indication of how fast a system is going to cure.
15-20 minutes
Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.
