PERMABOND LH050

Main features

  • Up to 1000 psi Instant Air Seal
  • PTFE Non-Shredding Pipe-Dope Alternative
  • UL Gas/Fuel/Sprinkler Classification

Product Description

Permabond® LH050 is a general-purpose, PTFE-filled anaerobic pipe sealant that cures to form a solid plastic seal when confined between threaded metal parts. Formulated as a smooth white paste, it immediately provides an air pressure seal up to 1000 psi with only limited hand tightening, and upon full cure, its sealing capability matches the burst rating of the pipe itself. Its low locking strength facilitates easy disassembly, making it an excellent, non-shredding alternative to traditional pipe dopes and PTFE tapes.

Key features

  • Instant seal capability: Delivers an immediate air pressure seal up to 1000 psi upon application, prior to full cure.
  • UL Classified: Classified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for use in systems handling gasoline, petroleum oils, natural gas, propane, and butane, as well as sprinkler and water spray systems.
  • Reliable & Clean: 100% solid, solvent-free formulation that will not shred, tear, or cause blockages in fine filters or valves like traditional PTFE tape can.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Sealing threaded metallic pipe joints, plugs, and fittings (particularly steel and brass)
  • Systems requiring UL classification for handling fuels, oils, or gases
  • Assemblies requiring an instant pressure seal and easy subsequent disassembly

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application

Thermal Properties
Thermal Conductivity
Thermal conductivity describes the ability of a material to conduct heat. It is required by power packages in order to dissipate heat and maintain stable electrical performance. Thermal conductivity units are [W/(m K)] in the SI system and [Btu/(hr ft °F)] in the Imperial system.
0.19 W/m.K
