MP 54190

Main features

  • 60-Minute Mixed Pot Life
  • Semi-Flexible 60% Elongation
  • 16.1 kV/mm Dielectric Strength

Product Description

H.B. Fuller MP54190 Epoxy Adhesive combines a mineral-filled two-part epoxy formulation with semi-flexible cured behavior for bonding metals and plastics. The translucent liquid components mix 1:1 by volume or 103:100 by weight and produce a typical mixed viscosity of 80,000 cP. A 100 g batch provides a 60-minute pot life at 25 deg C for cartridge or meter-mix-dispense application. Cure requires 48-72 hours at 23 deg C or 2 hours at 66 deg C. The cured epoxy reaches 60% elongation, 12.4 MPa overlap shear on acid-etched aluminum, and 16.1 kV/mm dielectric strength.

Key features

  • Sixty-minute pot life: A 100 g mixed mass provides a 60-minute working period at 25 deg C.
  • Semi-flexible cured epoxy: The cured material reaches 60% elongation with Shore D 70 hardness.
  • Electrical insulation data: The specified cured material has 16.1 kV/mm dielectric strength and a 4.5 dielectric constant at 100 Hz.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Metal assembly bonding
  • Plastic assembly bonding
  • Cartridge or meter-mix-dispense application

Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.

Electrical Properties
Dielectric Strength
Dielectric strength is measured in kV per mm and is calculated by the Breakdown voltage divided by the thickness of the tested material. Those two properties go hand in hand and while Breakdown voltage is always thickness dependent, dielectric strength is a general material property. As an example, the dielectric strength of Polyimide is 236 kV/mm. If we place 1mm of Polyimide between two electrodes, it will act as an insulator until the voltage between the electrodes reaches 236 kV. At this point it will start acting as a good conductor, causing sparks, potential punctures and current flow.
16.1 kV/mm
Volume Resistivity
Volume resistivity, also called volume resistance, bulk resistance or bulk resistivity is a thickness dependent measurement of the resistivity of a material perpendicular to the plane of the surface.
