MOLYKOTE L-1268

Main features

  • Fully Synthetic ISO Vg 68 PAO Lubrication
  • 54 deg C Pour Point
  • Longer Oil-Drain Intervals

Product Description

MOLYKOTE® L-1268 Synthetic Compressor Oil is a fully synthetic ISO VG 68 compressor lubricant based on polyalphaolefin oil with rust- and oxidation-inhibiting additives. It is formulated for rotary screw vacuum pumps and compressors where oxidation resistance, corrosion protection, broad temperature capability, and extended oil-drain intervals are required. The amber oil has a typical kinematic viscosity of 62 cSt at 40°C, a viscosity index of 121, and a pour point of −54°C. It is classified as an NSF H2 lubricant for equipment locations where contact with food is not permitted.

Key features

  • Fully synthetic PAO technology: Provides stable lubrication across a wider temperature range than conventional mineral-oil compressor lubricants.
  • ISO VG 68 viscosity: Delivers a typical kinematic viscosity of 62 cSt at 40°C and 9 cSt at 100°C.
  • Oxidation and corrosion protection: Contains a rust- and oxidation-inhibited additive package for compressor service.
  • Low-temperature fluidity: Provides a documented pour point of −54°C.
  • High-temperature resistance: Provides typical flash and fire points of 271°C and 304°C, respectively.
  • Extended maintenance potential: Designed to support longer oil-drain intervals and reduced lubricant consumption when used in accordance with equipment requirements.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Rotary screw air compressors
  • Rotary screw vacuum pumps
  • Compressors requiring an ISO VG 68 PAO lubricant
  • Equipment requiring rust and oxidation protection
  • NSF H2 lubricant applications where food contact is not permitted

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.
0.84 g/mL at 15°C
