LORD 7800

Main features

  • Rapid-Cure Urethane Bonding
  • Composite, SMC, Plastic, and Coated-Metal Bonding
  • Non-Sag Environmental Resistance

Product Description

LORD® 7800 Fast Cure Urethane Adhesive is an equal-mix, two-component urethane adhesive system designed for bonding composites, sheet molding compound (SMC), plastics and coated metals with minimal surface preparation. The system provides rapid strength development while offering multiple curative options that maintain consistent mechanical and adhesion properties across different working times, making it suitable for a wide range of manufacturing processes. It is also qualified under GMW 16506 Exterior Lighting Structural Adhesives for automotive and truck headlamp assembly.

Key Features

  • Equal-mix, two-component urethane adhesive system.
  • Rapid cure strength to support faster manufacturing and processing.
  • Low exotherm cure for more consistent cure speed across bondline thicknesses.
  • Non-sag formulation for vertical and overhead applications.
  • Resists weathering, humidity and salt spray after cure.
  • Free of heavy metals and does not contain ozone-depleting chemicals.

Suitable For

  • Composite bonding
  • Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) bonding
  • Plastic bonding
  • Powder-coated, primed and E-coat metal bonding
  • Automotive and truck headlamp assemblies

Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.
130 %
Thermal Properties
Glass Transition Temperature (Tg)
The glass transition temperature for organic adhesives is a temperature region where the polymers change from glassy and brittle to soft and rubbery. Increasing the temperature further continues the softening process as the viscosity drops too. Temperatures between the glass transition temperature and below the decomposition point of the adhesive are the best region for bonding. The glass-transition temperature Tg of a material characterizes the range of temperatures over which this glass transition occurs.
47 °C
