LORD 406E

Main features

  • High-Impact and Peel Performance
  • 6-10 Minute Working Time
  • Minimal Metal Surface Preparation

Product Description

LORD 406E Acrylic Adhesive is a non-sag acrylic adhesive component used with LORD Accelerator 17, 19, or 19GB for structural bonding of metals and engineered plastics. The off-white to tan paste has a typical viscosity of 100,000 to 300,000 mPa s at 25 deg C and remains in position on vertical or overhead surfaces. With a recommended accelerator, the mixed system provides a 6 to 10 minute working time, 12 to 17 minute handling-strength time, and 24 hour full cure at 24 deg C. The cured system is formulated for high-impact and high-peel applications from -40 to 149 deg C.

Key features

  • High-Impact Acrylic Bonding: Supports bonded assemblies exposed to impact and peel loading.
  • 6-10 Minute Working Time: Provides a controlled assembly window when mixed with a recommended accelerator.
  • Non-Sag Application: Remains in position on vertical and overhead surfaces.

Applications

Applications include structural bonding of prepared or minimally prepared metals and engineered plastics in assemblies requiring impact or peel resistance.

Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
100000 to 300000 mPa.s
