LOCTITE SF7649

Main features

  • Thirty-Day On-Part Life
  • Low-Temperature Cure Acceleration
  • Brush, Spray, or Pre-Applied Use

Product Description

LOCTITE SF 7649 Primer N Activator is a one-part acetone-based surface treatment that accelerates cure of LOCTITE anaerobic adhesives and sealants. The transparent green liquid can be brushed, sprayed, or pre-applied and dries in 30 to 70 seconds at 20 deg C. It is used on passive metals, inactive surfaces, large bond gaps, and assemblies below 15 deg C. Activated parts can remain ready for bonding for up to 30 days when protected from contamination. After the solvent evaporates, the anaerobic adhesive is applied separately and the assembly is secured until fixtured.

Key features

  • Thirty-day activation window: Activated surfaces remain ready for bonding for up to 30 days when kept clean.
  • Low-temperature cure acceleration: Promotes anaerobic cure on passive or inactive surfaces below 15 deg C.
  • Multiple application methods: Supports brush, spray, and pre-applied surface treatment.

Applications

Applications include anaerobic priming, gasketing, pipe sealing, retaining, thread sealing, and threadlocking where increased cure speed is required.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
