LOCTITE SF7471

Main features

  • Fast 30-70 Second Drying
  • Low-Temperature Cure Acceleration
  • Seven-Day On-Part Life

Product Description

LOCTITE SF 7471 Activator is a one-part acetone/isopropanol solvent activator for increasing the cure speed of LOCTITE anaerobic adhesives and sealants. The transparent yellow-to-amber liquid is applied by spray or brush and dries in 30 to 70 seconds at 20 deg C. It is used on passive metals, inert surfaces, large bond gaps, and assemblies below 15 deg C where anaerobic cure is slower. Treated surfaces remain active for up to 7 days when protected from contamination. The activator and adhesive are applied separately and must not be mixed together as liquids.

Key features

  • Fast surface activation: Dries in 30 to 70 seconds at 20 deg C before adhesive assembly.
  • Low-temperature cure assistance: Accelerates anaerobic cure in applications below 15 deg C.
  • Seven-day on-part life: Activated surfaces remain usable for up to 7 days when kept clean.

Applications

Applications include cure acceleration for LOCTITE anaerobic adhesives and sealants on passive metals or inert surfaces, in large-gap assemblies, and below 15 deg C.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
