LOCTITE PC6231

Main features

  • Rapid 90-Minute Full Cure
  • Self-Leveling Low-Viscosity Fill
  • 10-15% Joint Movement Capability

Product Description

LOCTITE PC 6231 Rapid-Curing Concrete Joint Filler is a two-part, 1:1 mixed, self-leveling material for filling and repairing interior control joints and new saw-cut joints in horizontal concrete. The 100% solids, low-viscosity system gels in 3 minutes and cures in 90 minutes at 24 deg C, allowing traffic after full cure. It accommodates 10% to 15% movement of installed joint width. The cured material combines 1.9 N/mm^2 adhesion to concrete, 82% elongation, and Shore A 75 to 80 hardness for heavy-traffic and freezer-floor applications.

Key features

  • Rapid 90-minute cure: Gels in 3 minutes and reaches full cure in 90 minutes at 24 deg C.
  • Self-leveling joint fill: A mixed viscosity of 525 mPa s supports gravity feeding into prepared horizontal joints.
  • Controlled joint movement: Accommodates 10% to 15% movement of installed joint width.

Applications

Applications include interior control joints, new-construction saw-cut joints, heavy-traffic industrial floors, freezer floors, and exterior horizontal concrete with minimal thermal movement.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application

Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.
