LOCTITE 416

Main features

  • High-Viscosity One-Part Cyanoacrylate
  • Documented MIL-A-46050C/A-A-3097 Qualification
  • Multi-Material Plastic/Rubber/Metal Bonding

Product Description

LOCTITE® 416™ is a one-component, high-viscosity ethyl cyanoacrylate instant adhesive formulated for general-purpose bonding of plastics, rubbers and metals. The transparent adhesive delivers rapid fixture times through moisture-activated curing and develops high bond strength on a wide range of substrates. Its higher viscosity enables better control during application while maintaining the fast-curing performance expected from cyanoacrylate technology. LOCTITE 416 also meets the lot requirements of Military Specification Mil-A-46050C and is qualified to Commercial Item Description A-A-3097, making it suitable for industrial assembly, maintenance and repair applications.

Key Features & Benefits

  • High-viscosity ethyl cyanoacrylate formulation.
  • One-component adhesive requiring no mixing.
  • Fast humidity-activated room-temperature cure.
  • Bonds plastics, rubbers and metals effectively.
  • Transparent cured bondline appearance.
  • Qualified to Mil-A-46050C and A-A-3097 specifications.
  • Excellent chemical and environmental resistance after cure.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
