LOCTITE 266

Main features

  • Oil-Tolerant Threadlocking Application
  • High-Strength Thread Retention
  • Thixotropic Application Control

Product Description

LOCTITE® 266™ is a high-strength, high-temperature anaerobic threadlocking adhesive designed for permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. The acrylic-based formulation cures in the absence of air between closely fitting metal surfaces, preventing loosening and leakage caused by vibration, shock and dynamic loads. LOCTITE 266 is specifically engineered for heavy-duty assemblies such as transmission fasteners, construction equipment, railroad components and other applications exposed to elevated temperatures and severe service conditions. The oil-tolerant, surface-insensitive formulation delivers reliable performance on a broad range of metal substrates, while its thixotropic consistency minimizes migration after application and ensures precise placement during assembly.

Key Features & Benefits

  • High-strength threadlocker for permanent fastener retention.
  • Designed for elevated temperature and heavy-duty applications.
  • Resists vibration, impact loads and dynamic stress conditions.
  • Oil-tolerant and surface-insensitive formulation.
  • Thixotropic consistency reduces migration after application.
  • Suitable for construction, transportation and industrial equipment assemblies.
  • Fluorescent under UV light for inspection and quality verification.

Recommended Applications

  • Transmission and drivetrain fasteners.
  • Construction and heavy equipment assemblies.
  • Railroad and transportation equipment.
  • Permanent locking of threaded bolts, studs and nuts.
  • Applications exposed to vibration, shock and elevated temperatures.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
