LOCTITE 263

Main features

  • High-Strength Thread Retention
  • Low-Viscosity Threadlocking Application
  • High-Temperature Thread Retention

Product Description

LOCTITE® 263™ is a high-strength anaerobic threadlocking adhesive engineered for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. The one-component acrylic formulation cures when confined between closely fitting metal surfaces in the absence of air, preventing loosening and leakage caused by shock and vibration. LOCTITE 263 is particularly suited for heavy-duty applications such as studs installed into motor housings, nuts on pump housing studs and other assemblies requiring high-strength retention. The adhesive delivers reliable curing performance on both active metals such as brass and copper and passive substrates including stainless steel and plated surfaces. It also provides high-temperature performance and tolerates minor contamination from industrial oils, lubricants and corrosion-protection fluids.

Key Features & Benefits

  • High-strength anaerobic threadlocker for permanent fastener locking.
  • Prevents loosening and leakage caused by vibration and shock.
  • Suitable for active and passive metal substrates including stainless steel and plated surfaces.
  • Oil-tolerant formulation performs on lightly contaminated surfaces.
  • Excellent high-temperature resistance for demanding applications.
  • One-component adhesive requiring no mixing.
  • Visible under UV light for inspection and quality control.

Recommended Applications

  • Permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners.
  • Stud installation in motor housings.
  • Nuts and studs in pump housings.
  • Heavy-duty industrial equipment assembly.
  • Threaded connections exposed to vibration, heat and industrial fluids.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
