LOCTITE 2620 LOCTITE 2620

Main features

  • Elevated-Temperature Threadlocking Paste
  • Thixotropic Paste Placement
  • Medium-to-High Fastener Retention

Product Description

LOCTITE 2620 is a red, high-viscosity anaerobic threadlocker paste for locking and sealing metal fasteners in elevated-temperature assemblies. The one-component material requires no mixing and cures without air between close-fitting metal surfaces. Its thixotropic paste consistency supports controlled placement on threads, while the medium-to-high cured strength resists loosening and leakage under shock and vibration. High-temperature resistance is a primary selection factor for this grade. Torque performance applies to the specified steel and phosphate-and-oil fastener configurations under the defined cure conditions.

Key features

  • Extreme-temperature positioning: The formulation is intended for threaded assemblies requiring elevated-temperature resistance.
  • Thixotropic paste placement: High viscosity helps maintain coverage on threaded surfaces before assembly.
  • Medium-to-high retention: Cured joints resist loosening and leakage under shock and vibration.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Locking and sealing threaded metal fasteners
  • Shock- and vibration-exposed threaded assemblies
  • Elevated-temperature fastener applications

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
