HARDENER HY 5049
Harmonization Code : 8529.90 | Parts solely or principally used for TV, radio, and transmission
Main features
- High-Strength Structural Bonding
- Documented Water/Ice/Tropical-Climate Resistance
- Transparent Cured Bondline
Product Description
ARALDITE® 5049 A/B is a two-part epoxy laminating adhesive that cures to a transparent bondline, making it highly suitable for fabricating composite parts such as snow skis and snowboards. This system requires a heat cure for optimal results and is engineered to bond effectively to a wide variety of materials commonly used in the ski industry.
Key features
- High structural integrity: Formulated to deliver high strength under both static and dynamic loading conditions.
- Environmental durability: Provides robust resistance to challenging outdoor conditions, including water, ice, and tropical climates.
- Aesthetic finish: Creates a transparent bondline that preserves the visual quality of laminated recreational equipment.
Applications / Suitable for
- Laminating snow skis and snowboards.
- Fabricating composite archery limbs.
- Bonding honeycomb core facing.

Technical Specifications
General Properties
Mix Ratio
100:54
The amount of a constituent divided by the total amount of all other constituents in a mixture
Pot Life
75 (Gel time) minutes
Pot life is the amount of time it takes for the viscosity of a material to double (or quadruple for lower viscosity materials) in room temperature after a material is mixed.
It is closely related to work life but it is not application dependent, less precise and more of a general indication of how fast a system is going to cure.
Mechanical Properties
Elongation
6% %
Elongation is the process of lengthening something.
It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks.
It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.
