FREKOTE R220

Main features

  • High-Slip EPDM/Elastomer Release
  • 60 to 205 deg C Mold Operation
  • 4-Minute 149 deg C Cure

Product Description

LOCTITE® FREKOTE® R-220 is a one-part, water-based, heat-curing mold release emulsion for demanding rubber molding processes. Its high-slip characteristics make it particularly relevant for difficult-to-release materials such as EPDM and highly filled elastomers. Applied as a finely atomized spray to a preheated mold, the product chemically bonds to the surface and forms a thin, inert, thermally stable release coating. It also supports thermoplastic urethanes and solid polyurethane cast elastomers across mold application temperatures from 60°C to 205°C.

Key features

  • High-slip release performance: Formulated for difficult-to-release rubbers, including EPDM and highly filled elastomers.
  • Water-based formulation: Supplied as a non-flammable, milky-white emulsion with mild odor.
  • Heat-cured coating: Chemically bonds to preheated mold surfaces to form a thin, inert release layer.
  • Fast application and cure: Multiple coats can be applied to the heated mold, with full cure in 4 minutes at 149°C.
  • Gloss finish: Produces a gloss finish under the documented application conditions.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.
0.95–1.06
Thermal Properties
Temperature Resistance
Temperature resistance is the maximum temperature that the material or product can withstand for a period of time. The temperatures listed should be considered as guidelines for an operating temperature of about 30 minutes. Typically, the material can withstand much longer times at temperatures about 20°C lower and can withstand much higher temperatures for short, intermittent times.
315 ˚C
