FREKOTE R-120

Main features

  • Semi-Permanent Rubber-Mold Release Coating
  • 4-Minute 150 deg C Cure
  • Multiple Releases with Low Transfer

Product Description

LOCTITE® FREKOTE® R-120 is a one-part, water-based, semi-permanent release agent for rubber molding. Applied as a finely atomized spray to a preheated mold, it chemically bonds to the surface and forms a thin, inert, thermally stable release coating. The product supports natural and synthetic rubber polymers, including some thermoplastic urethanes, across mold application temperatures from 60°C to 200°C. It is intended for demanding molding processes where minimal mold buildup and low transfer to the molded part are required.

Key features

  • Water-based formulation: Supplied as a translucent, non-flammable emulsion with mild odor.
  • Semi-permanent release coating: Chemically bonds to a preheated mold surface to support multiple releases.
  • Broad application-temperature range: Suitable for mold temperatures from 60°C to 200°C.
  • Fast heat cure: Full cure time decreases as mold temperature increases, reaching 4 minutes at 150°C.
  • Controlled mold condition: Recommended where minimal mold buildup and low transfer to molded parts are required.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Natural and synthetic rubber molding
  • Some thermoplastic urethane molding applications
  • Demanding molding processes requiring minimal mold buildup
  • Preheated molds operating from 60°C to 200°C

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Thermal Properties
Temperature Resistance
Temperature resistance is the maximum temperature that the material or product can withstand for a period of time. The temperatures listed should be considered as guidelines for an operating temperature of about 30 minutes. Typically, the material can withstand much longer times at temperatures about 20°C lower and can withstand much higher temperatures for short, intermittent times.
315 ˚C
