FREKOTE FMS-100

Main features

  • Room-Temperature Mold-Sealer Cure
  • Microporosity-Sealing Mold Preparation
  • High-Gloss Release-Ready Surface

Product Description

LOCTITE® FREKOTE® FMS-100 is a clear, colorless, solvent-based polymeric mold sealer formulated for fiberglass-reinforced polyester, epoxy, and other composite mold surfaces. It is particularly suited to new or “green” molds with microporosity, repaired areas, and other slight surface imperfections. Applied by wiping, the room-temperature-curing sealer forms a smooth, high-gloss surface before application of a compatible mold release agent. New molds typically require one or two coats, with a minimum 15-minute interval between coats and a 20-minute final-coat cure at 20°C.

Key features

  • Composite mold sealing: Formulated for fiberglass-reinforced polyester, epoxy, and other composite mold surfaces.
  • Microporosity treatment: Seals microporosity and slight surface imperfections in new, green, or repaired molds.
  • High-gloss surface: Produces a smooth, high-gloss prepared mold surface.
  • Wipe-on application: Applied using a clean, lint-free cotton cloth.
  • High cured thermal stability: The cured sealer is documented as thermally stable at temperatures up to 400°C.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Fiberglass-reinforced polyester molds
  • Epoxy and other composite molds
  • New or green molds with microporosity
  • Repaired mold surfaces and areas with slight surface imperfections
  • Mold preparation before application of a compatible release agent

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Thermal Properties
Temperature Resistance
Temperature resistance is the maximum temperature that the material or product can withstand for a period of time. The temperatures listed should be considered as guidelines for an operating temperature of about 30 minutes. Typically, the material can withstand much longer times at temperatures about 20°C lower and can withstand much higher temperatures for short, intermittent times.
