DYMAX 6-621-VT

Main features

  • High-Viscosity Bead Retention
  • Multi-Cure Joint Accessibility
  • Structural Battery Bonding Fit

Product Description

Dymax Multi-Cure 6-621-VT Adhesive is the high-viscosity member of the 6-621 structural adhesive family. The thicker flow profile supports applications that need improved bead retention or reduced movement after dispensing, while UV and visible light provide the primary cure route on exposed material. Secondary heat and compatible activator cure extend processing into shadowed bond areas. The adhesive is used for bonding phenolic and filled plastics, glass, and metals, with applications including metal-to-glass assembly, coil winding, potting, and structural battery bonding. Its main selection distinction is higher pre-cure viscosity within a shared multi-cure platform.

Key features

  • High-viscosity bead retention: The VT grade is selected where a thicker, more stationary adhesive profile is useful.
  • Multi-Cure process coverage: UV/visible, heat, and activator routes address exposed and shadowed regions.
  • Structural family compatibility: The documented scope includes phenolic materials, glass, metals, and battery assemblies.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Metal-to-glass bonding
  • Coil winding and potting
  • Structural battery bonding

Refractive index
The refractive index determines how much the path of light is bent, or refracted, when entering a material. It is calculated by taking into account the velocity of light in vacuum compared to the velocity of light in the material. The refractive index calculation can be affected by the wavelength of light and the temperature of the material. Even though it is usually reported on standard wavelengths it is advised to check the TDS for the precise test parameters.

Thermal Properties
Glass Transition Temperature (Tg)
The glass transition temperature for organic adhesives is a temperature region where the polymers change from glassy and brittle to soft and rubbery. Increasing the temperature further continues the softening process as the viscosity drops too. Temperatures between the glass transition temperature and below the decomposition point of the adhesive are the best region for bonding. The glass-transition temperature Tg of a material characterizes the range of temperatures over which this glass transition occurs.
