DOWSIL DS-1000

Main features

  • Silicone Oil/Grease/Elastomer Emulsification
  • Immersion, Recirculation, or Spray Cleaning
  • Above 100 deg C Flash Point

Product Description

DOWSIL™ DS-1000 Aqueous Silicone Cleaner is a water-based organic surfactant blend used to remove non-substantive, uncured silicone residues from surfaces, tools, processing equipment, and manufacturing units. The cleaner emulsifies silicone oils, greases, and uncured elastomers and is specifically formulated to solubilize silicone oils so they can be removed during cleaning and rinsing. A recommended 10% aqueous use solution may be applied by equipment immersion, recirculation through piping, or recirculation through a spray nozzle. The product is compatible with clean-in-place procedures and equipment, supporting silicone-removal tasks in industrial processing environments. A rinsing step is required after cleaning, with additional standard sanitization procedures performed as appropriate.

Key features

  • Silicone-residue removal: Emulsifies silicone oils, greases, and uncured elastomers for removal from contaminated processing surfaces and equipment.
  • Aqueous cleaning system: Used as a recommended 10% aqueous solution and has a closed-cup flash point above 100°C.
  • Flexible equipment-cleaning methods: Supports immersion, piping recirculation, and spray-nozzle recirculation and is compatible with clean-in-place procedures.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Cleaning surfaces contaminated with non-substantive, uncured silicone residues
  • Cleaning tools and processing equipment
  • Cleaning piping and manufacturing units by recirculation
  • Use after DOWSIL™ DS-2025 Silicone Cleaning Solvent

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application

Thermal Properties
Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.
