DOWSIL 730 FS SOLVENT RESISTANT SEALANT

Main features

  • One-Component Sealing System
  • Room-Temperature Sealing Cure
  • Non-Sag Placement Control

Product Description

DOWSIL™ 730 FS Solvent Resistant Sealant is a one-component, solventless fluorosilicone adhesive/sealant supplied as a non-sag paste. The acetoxy-cure material reacts with atmospheric moisture at room temperature to form a tough, flexible rubber that retains its properties when exposed to fuels, oils, and solvents. Its paste consistency supports application on vertical and overhead surfaces, while the cured material remains stable and flexible across a documented temperature range of -65°C (-85°F) to 260°C (500°F). It is used for bonding, sealing, caulking, and formed-in-place gasketing where fluid exposure and demanding environmental conditions must be considered.

Key features

  • Fuel, oil, and solvent resistance: Retains its properties under exposure to fuels, oils, and solvents and resists fluid-related swelling.
  • One-component moisture cure: Ready-to-use acetoxy system cures at room temperature when exposed to moisture in the air.
  • Non-sag paste consistency: Supports application on vertical and overhead surfaces without slumping or running.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Bonding and sealing where resistance to fuels, oils, and solvents is required
  • Assembly and repair of fuel systems and tanks
  • Formed-in-place gaskets for irregular shapes and harsh service conditions
  • Components exposed to moisture, vibration, shock, fuels, oils, and solvents

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.

Electrical Properties
Arc Resistance
ASTM-D495 expresses arc resistance as the number of seconds that a material resists forming a surface-conducting path when exposed to a high-voltage, low-current arc occurring intermittently. Results obtained from a nominal 3 mm thickness are meant to represent the material’s reaction in any thickness.

Dielectric Strength
Dielectric strength is measured in kV per mm and is calculated by the Breakdown voltage divided by the thickness of the tested material. Those two properties go hand in hand and while Breakdown voltage is always thickness dependent, dielectric strength is a general material property. As an example, the dielectric strength of Polyimide is 236 kV/mm. If we place 1mm of Polyimide between two electrodes, it will act as an insulator until the voltage between the electrodes reaches 236 kV. At this point it will start acting as a good conductor, causing sparks, potential punctures and current flow.
14.6 kV/mm
Volume Resistivity
Volume resistivity, also called volume resistance, bulk resistance or bulk resistivity is a thickness dependent measurement of the resistivity of a material perpendicular to the plane of the surface.
