BOSTIK L1685MC

Main features

  • Neoprene and Butyl Membrane Adhesion
  • Room-Temperature Contact Bonding
  • Broad Multi-Substrate Bonding Range

Product Description

Bostik L1685MC Solvent-Based Adhesive is a one-part, brown, chloroprene-rubber solvent-based contact adhesive for room-temperature contact bonding. It bonds polyurethane foam and abrasive grit, rubber to metal, wood to itself, leather, and other supported materials, and it has been used to bond cellulose sponge to metal in mop manufacturing. It also provides adhesion of cured and uncured neoprene and butyl membranes to concrete, wood, and metal. The adhesive is supplied as a liquid in a 1-liter can and is classified UN 1133 CL3 as a flammable liquid for transport.

Key features

  • Chloroprene-Rubber Contact Bonding: one-part, solvent-based chloroprene-rubber adhesive for room-temperature contact bonding
  • Neoprene and Butyl Membrane Adhesion: bonds cured and uncured neoprene and butyl membranes to concrete, wood, and metal
  • Multi-Substrate Bonding Range: bonds polyurethane foam, rubber to metal, wood to itself, leather, and cellulose sponge to metal

Applications

Bonding supported polyurethane foam, rubber and neoprene, butyl membranes, metals, wood, leather, and concrete.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
5500 - 6000 mPa.s
Thermal Properties
Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.
-8 °C
