ARALDITE CY179-1

Main features

  • Configurable Heat-Cure Formulation
  • Electrical Casting Resin Component
  • Encapsulation System Processing Base

Product Description

ARALDITE CY 179-1 Epoxy Resin is a cycloaliphatic epoxy resin component for heat-curing casting and encapsulation systems. The resin is selected as the epoxy component in formulations where the hardener and accelerator are chosen separately for the required process and cured-property profile. It is used in electrical and electronic casting or encapsulation systems, with processing and final performance determined by the complete formulation and cure schedule. CY 179-0.625remains a component-level product rather than a ready-to-use casting compound, so mixed-system properties apply only to the specified resin, hardener, accelerator, ratio, and cure conditions.

Key features

  • Cycloaliphatic epoxy component: CY 179-1 serves as the resin base in specified casting and encapsulation formulations.
  • Configurable heat-cure processing: Hardener and accelerator selection defines the complete system and cure profile.
  • Electrical casting system role: The resin is used in electrical and electronic casting or encapsulation systems.

Applications

Electrical and electronic casting or encapsulation within specified CY 179-1 resin systems.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
100-600 mPa.s
Thermal Properties
Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.
