ARALDITE CW1302

Main features

  • Thermally Conductive Thermal Interface
  • Low Water Absorption
  • Good Long-Term Thermal Resistance

Product Description

ARALDITE® CW 1302 GB is a highly filled epoxy casting resin designed for electrical insulation and encapsulation applications. When used within its recommended casting resin system, it can be processed and cured at room temperature or moderately elevated temperatures. The material offers good thermal conductivity, low water absorption, long-term thermal resistance, and UL 94 V-0 flammability performance at 3.2 mm thickness. It is suitable for the manufacture of inductive components, wound capacitors, and electrical devices operating in potentially explosive environments while providing reliable dielectric and mechanical performance in demanding electrical insulation applications.

Key features

  • Electrical insulation performance: High volume resistivity, dielectric strength of 15 kV/mm, and CTI greater than 600 support demanding electrical insulation applications.
  • Thermally conductive filled system: Thermal conductivity of 0.83 W/m·K and a Relative Temperature Index of 181°C support thermal management and long-term service performance.
  • Flame-retardant formulation: Achieves UL 94 V-0 classification at 3.2 mm and complies with EN 50014 and EN 50028 requirements.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Inductive components
  • Wound capacitors
  • Electrical insulation castings
  • Electrical devices operating in potentially explosive environments
  • Encapsulation and protection of electrical assemblies

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Thermal Properties
Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.
