Product Description

ARADUR HY 177 Hardener is a modified polyamide liquid hardener used with ARALDITE GY 9708-1 in a room-temperature-curing epoxy casting system. The component is an amber-to-brown liquid with guideline viscosity of 600-900 mPa.s at 25 deg C, specific weight of 0.95-1.0 g/cm3 at 25 deg C, and a closed-cup flash point above 140 deg C. In the documented system, the mix ratio is 45 parts by weight or 52 parts by volume per 100 parts resin. The casting mixture offers a 40-60 minute pot life for 100 ml at 25 deg C. It is intended for casting or impregnation of transformers, filters, capacitors, and related electronic components.

Key features

  • Controlled component viscosity: Guideline viscosity is 600-900 mPa.s at 25 deg C by Brookfield measurement.
  • Practical system working time: The GY 9708-1/HY 177 mixture has a 40-60 minute pot life at 25 deg C.
  • Flexible processing setup: The documented system supports manual or automatic mixing and dosing.

Applications

As the hardener component in the ARALDITE GY 9708-1 system for casting or impregnation of transformers, filters, capacitors, and related electronic components.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
600-890 mPa.s
Thermal Properties
Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.
