3M EC-1357

Main features

  • Fast Interior Contact Assembly
  • Positioning Time Before Contact
  • Flexible Coating Method Selection

Product Description

3M Scotch-Weld Neoprene High Performance Contact Adhesive EC-1357 is a fast-acting neoprene contact adhesive for aircraft-interior assemblies using rubber, fabric, foam, metal, wood veneer, plastic laminate, or honeycomb. Apply it by spray, brush, or roller, then use the 10 to 20 minute open time to align parts before contact. Qualified canvas-to-steel peel strength reaches 42 lb/in width after five days at 24 deg C, while three-week birch overlap shear reaches 536 psi at 24 deg C and 199 psi at 82 deg C.

Key features

  • Rapid Contact Strength Build: The adhesive develops high initial strength for efficient assembly.
  • Positioning Time Before Contact: A 10 to 20 minute open time supports alignment and adjustment.
  • Spray Brush Or Roller Application: Multiple coating methods accommodate varied part sizes and shapes.

Applications

Aircraft-interior panels, wood veneer, rubber, fabric, foam, metal, plastic laminate, and compatible honeycomb assembly.

Thermal Properties
Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.
-26 °C
Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
