Main features

  • Film Edge-Lift Protection
  • Water-Tight Interface Sealing
  • Defined 50-100 deg F Application

Product Description

3M Edge Sealer 3950 is a colorless liquid acrylic sealant for exposed edges of compatible graphic films and screen-printing inks. Applied along the film boundary, it forms a water- and contaminant-tight seal that helps prevent edge lifting during environmental exposure or cleaning. The sealer is intended for application between 50 and 100 deg F and should not be applied directly to painted surfaces. Its liquid form reaches the narrow film-to-substrate interface for controlled edge coverage. This product suits graphics and screen-printing installations that face rigorous use, prolonged exposure, or repeated cleaning and require added protection at vulnerable film edges.

Key features

  • Film Edge-Lift Protection: The applied sealer helps keep compatible film edges from lifting during exposure or cleaning.
  • Water-Tight Interface Seal: The seal limits water and contaminant entry at the film-to-substrate boundary.
  • Defined Application Window: Apply between 50 and 100 deg F and not directly onto painted surfaces.

Applications

Suitable for sealing exposed edges of compatible graphic films and screen-printing inks.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
