3M 3747

Main features

  • Dissimilar-Substrate Hot-Melt Bonding
  • Rapid Strength Development in Seconds
  • 45-Second Open Time

Product Description

3M™ Hot Melt Adhesive 3747 is a 100% solids, thermoplastic general-purpose adhesive designed for bonding dissimilar substrates. Containing no VOCs, this tan-colored hot melt adhesive applies easily and sets in seconds without the need for clamping. It provides an open time of 45 seconds and is highly effective for a wide variety of assemblies, including joining wood to plastic and fabric to metal.

Key features

  • Fast setting time: Adhesive sets and obtains high-performance strength in seconds, eliminating the need for clamping.
  • Versatile bonding: General-purpose formulation easily bonds dissimilar substrates such as wood to plastic and fabric to metal.
  • Easy to use: 100% solids, VOC-free formula provides a 45-second open time for easy handling on large assemblies and surfaces.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Woodworking applications
  • General industrial bonding
  • Bonding dissimilar substrates like wood to plastic and fabric to metal

Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.

Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
