Main features

  • High-Strength Structural Bonding
  • 120-Minute Working Window
  • 1:1 Meter-Mix Processing

Product Description

3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive 2158 B/A is a two-part, high-strength epoxy adhesive that chemically cures at room temperature to form a durable gray bond. It provides excellent adhesion to a wide variety of substrates, including metals, many plastics, wood, and damp concrete. Featuring a convenient 1:1 mix ratio by weight or volume, it is also recognized as meeting UL 94 HB standards for flammability.

Key features

  • Convenient mix ratio: Features a 1:1 mix ratio by weight or volume for simplified dispensing and application.
  • Versatile adhesion: Bonds strongly to multiple substrates, including metals, plastics, wood, and damp concrete.
  • Extended work life: Offers a 120-minute open time at room temperature, allowing ample time for complex assemblies and positioning.

Applications / Suitable for

  • High-strength structural bonding
  • Assembling metals, plastics, and wood
  • Applications requiring bonding to damp concrete

General Properties
Mix Ratio
The amount of a constituent divided by the total amount of all other constituents in a mixture

Solids
100 %
Work life @25°C
Work life is the amount of time we have to work with a material until it is no longer able to be easily worked and applied on a substrate. It is based on the change in viscosity and it can rely on the application requirements.

Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.

Electrical Properties
Volume Resistivity
Volume resistivity, also called volume resistance, bulk resistance or bulk resistivity is a thickness dependent measurement of the resistivity of a material perpendicular to the plane of the surface.

Thermal Properties
Glass Transition Temperature (Tg)
The glass transition temperature for organic adhesives is a temperature region where the polymers change from glassy and brittle to soft and rubbery. Increasing the temperature further continues the softening process as the viscosity drops too. Temperatures between the glass transition temperature and below the decomposition point of the adhesive are the best region for bonding. The glass-transition temperature Tg of a material characterizes the range of temperatures over which this glass transition occurs.
